Physical Plant maintains and services the VCU electrical systems and components from distribution to end usage devices such as breaker panels, lighting and receptacles.
Routine electrical requests can be submitted via the Facilities Self Service. Emergency requests, such as a power outage in multiple rooms, smoke smell or signs, sparks, or arching, must be immediately reported to Physical Plant Customer Service at (804) 828-9444.
Facilities Management covers the cost of electrical maintenance for the university’s educational and general units, though any upgrades, improvements and additions to the electrical system will be billed to the requesting department or school. All electrical services provided to auxiliary enterprises are billed to the respective auxiliary enterprise unit.
