The flexible, mobile Support Shop supports Facilities Management, the Physical Plant and the university as a whole on the Monroe Park Campus, the MCV Campus and sateille locations as needed with a variety of small-scale construction and repair services to help them meet their needs and goals. The group responds to requests promptly to provide creative and cost-effective customer service. Other services include making site visits for estimates, providing feasibility advice, offering referrals to other resources as needed, and locating specialty materials.
The shop consists of skilled, multicrafted carpenters and commercial construction mechanics. It also uses outside specialty resources as needed.
Routine service requests should be submitted via Facilities Self Service.
The department initiating work should submit a request via Facilities Self Service. If a requesting department would like to request a cost estimate and/or a completion date, this information should be included in the work description section of the FSS request. Once Facilities Management receives and approves the request, the requesting department will receive an AiM work order and be contacted by the appropriate shop. Upon completion of the work, the requesting department will receive a customer satisfaction survey—feedback will help Facilities Management complete and make improvements, as necessary, to future work requests. The requesting department may be incrementally billed during the duration of the project, dependent upon the amount of time it takes to complete the project.
