Types of services
VCU Facilities Management offers a variety of services related to facility maintenance, construction and renovation, parking and transportation, planning and design, space management and sustainability on the Monroe Park and MCV Campuses.
Report emergency maintenance issues — issues that require an immediate response to avoid potential injury or illness to building tenants and/or damage to university property — to the 24/7 Operations Center by calling (804) 828-9444.
Examples of emergency requests include:
- Loss of power in an entire building, floor or room
- Flooding
- Security issue (door, lock or window)
- Significant damage to university property
- Emergency elevator malfunction (e.g., someone trapped in elevator)
Students, faculty and staff with an active VCU eID can submit non-emergency maintenance requests via the Facilities Self Service. Once a request is submitted, the requesting individual will receive automatically-generated work status email updates.
Examples of non-emergency requests include:
- Light bulb replacement
- Clogged toilet, sink or shower (when another is available for use)
- Pest control
- Non-emergency malfunctioning elevator (e.g., a button is not working properly)
- Poor indoor air quality
- Facility upkeep (e.g., painting, carpentry, roofing and electrical)
Faculty and staff with an active VCU eID can submit a request for the general services listed below via the Facilities Self Service. Once a request is submitted, the requesting individual will receive automatically-generated work status email updates.
- Moving services between VCU properties
- Surplus property pick up for items (e.g., office furniture, computers and laboratory equipment) that are no longer needed
- GovDeals oversight, a service for government agencies to auction surplus property and other equipment
- Reuse program to donate and acquire gently-used items (e.g., furniture, computers and laboratory equipment)
- Special event setup
- Table and chair rentals for special events

Staff and faculty can use eBuilder* to submit a request on behalf of their school or department for the following types of services provided by VCU Construction Management:
- Construction
- Renovation
- Tent and stage permits, which are necessary if tents and stages exceed a certain limitation when placed on state property
Once a request is submitted, a Construction Management representative will contact the requesting individual to discuss next steps.

Staff, faculty and students can request or participate in a variety of parking and transportation services provided by VCU Parking and Transportation, including:
- Obtaining a parking permit.
- Taking advantage of alternative transportation opportunities.
- Repairing or learning about bicycle topics with RamBikes.
- Participating in the fleet management program, only staff may participate.

Staff and faculty can request a variety of services related to their department or school’s space management, including:
- Requesting a new space, function change or space reassignment by submitting the space request form.
- Accessing facility documents and drawings via PlanAXess, which is available upon request to VCU and non-VCU users.
- Retrieving up-to-date space data, including floor plans, room numbers, departments and occupancy, via FM:Interact, which is available upon request to approved VCU administrators and staff with an active VCU eID.

Staff, faculty, students and affiliates can request or obtain a variety of sustainability services, including:
- Renting a plot or volunteering at the MCV Campus Community Garden or learning to grow food at the Monroe Park Campus Learning Garden.
- Donating or taking items from the Free Store at the Monroe Park Campus.
