Maintenance services
Facilities Operations consists of a wide variety of skilled, multicraft workers who respond to maintenance service requests on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses.

Use the dropdowns below to learn about some, but not all, of the different types of maintenance services Facilities Operations staff provide.
Carpentry services include, but are not limited to, building, installation, maintenance and repair of wooden structures (e.g., doors, walls, hardware, ceilings and floors).
Custodial staff perform the following housekeeping services in academic, administrative, research and clinical areas on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses:
- Vacuuming open areas
- Dusting cleared surfaces
- Emptying office recycling bins once per week and trash receptacles in common areas (e.g., kitchens, breakrooms, hallways, restrooms, lobbies and copy rooms) every day

Emergency housekeeping requests

Non-emergency housekeeping requests
Non-emergency housekeeping services between regularly scheduled cleaning can be requested via the Facilities Self Service. Examples include:
- A bathroom requires attention (i.e., toilet paper or paper towels need to be refilled)
- Biohazard waste removal
- Recycling or document destruction bins need to be emptied
- Housekeeping services for special events
Electrical services include maintenance and service of electrical systems and components from distribution to end usage devices (e.g., breaker panels, lighting and receptacles).
Contracted vendors perform elevator services, including inspection, repair, maintenance and modification of passenger and freight elevator circuitry and equipment.
Grounds and landscaping services include:
- Leaf and litter collection
- Landscape design, installation and maintenance
- Turfgrass management
- Landscape pest management
- Tree installation and maintenance
- Irrigation management
- Hardscape installation and maintenance sidewalks, building entrances, parking lots, etc.
- Plan review
- Graffiti removal from painted masonry, metal, cement and other surfaces
- Snow removal and ice control
HVAC and mechanical services include:
- Installation, repair and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, which also includes supply fans, fume hoods and exhaust systems
- Indoor air quality and humidification
- Functional checks of control systems
- Room pressurization, pressure and air balances
- Installation and maintenance of steam distribution systems, hydronic heating systems, steam and condensate systems, chilled water systems, water distribution systems, and storm and sanitary sewer systems
- Fabrication, installation and repair of piping fixtures used to produce and distribute steam or hot water under low or high pressures (e.g., water treatment and process piping systems)
- Installation and maintenance of centralized piping, fixtures and equipment used to deliver water, fuel gasses, compressed air, storm and sanitary sewers
- Maintenance and repair of equipment that uses Freon for mechanical refrigeration in the cooling process (e.g., walk-in HVAC and refrigeration as well as systems used for air conditioning)
Keys and building access services include:
- Coordination with key control managers to disseminate keys to individuals authorized to receive keys to access spaces relevant to their work, study or research
- Lock and safe repairs

Painting services include painting or arranging contracts to paint interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures, fixtures, furniture, walls (plaster or block), ceilings and floors.
Custom paint and stain matches are available.
Pest management services are provided by licensed, external integrated pest management vendors as needed to investigate and resolve pest issues. Building tenants should not use pesticides or other chemical products to treat pest issues.
Roofing and gutter system services include:
- Maintenance and repair of roofing and gutter systems
- Installation of banners
- Maintenance of United States and state flags
Waterproofing and moisture intrusion services include applying materials to structures below and above ground (e.g., roofs, basements, high-moisture rooms, floors and fountains).
